Jack Antonoff, named Variety's Hitmakers Producer of the Decade, continues to shape the music industry with his extensive list of collaborations.
Antonoff, known for his work with artists like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, and Lorde, has also had a significant year in 2024, contributing to major hits including Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” and Lamar's "GNX." Despite his success, Antonoff remains humble, often reflecting on advice from his idol, Bruce Springsteen.
In a recent interview, Antonoff shared how Springsteen’s words helped him maintain perspective in a fast-paced industry. "If you spend your life making records and touring, that’s more than enough," Springsteen advised, reminding Antonoff that success doesn’t always have to come from multiple side hustles. Antonoff’s approach has allowed him to focus on making powerful music, evident in his work with Swift and others.
A defining moment in Antonoff’s career came through his collaboration with Swift, particularly on her album 1989. Antonoff credits Swift with giving him the freedom to produce fully, creating a long-lasting and productive partnership. Their creative chemistry has resulted in over 100 songs together, always filled with surprises and new ideas.
In addition to his work with Swift, Antonoff praises Sabrina Carpenter’s unique sense of humor and depth in her writing. He credits her ability to mix dark and light themes effortlessly in her music, as seen in her album Short n’ Sweet.
Looking forward, Antonoff is involved in multiple exciting projects, including a Christmas song with Bleachers, a soundtrack for the movie Mother Mary with Charli XCX, and more music for A24’s upcoming Anne Hathaway film. Despite his packed schedule, Antonoff remains open to creative surprises, allowing his music to take shape organically.
