Former Da Band member, Freddy P, spoke about Sean “Diddy” Combs on The Art of Dialogue YouTube channel on October 30, advising him against testifying at his upcoming trial on May 5, 2025, and suggesting he take a settlement to focus on his children. Diddy is currently in custody after his September arrest.
In his interview, former Bad Boy Records artist Freddy P stated: “Your ego f**king you up because let me tell you something, some real sh*t… you could have taken $150 million and shut everybody up. You could have silenced me. I wouldn’t have been on this platform, kicking you in the a*s. You couldn’t even silence me. I’m on here because you [Diddy] did me wrong and I’m on your a*s n**ga.”
Freddy P further commented that Diddy’s "ego" wouldn’t allow him to "lose."
“You already guilty in the public opinion, bro. Take the best plea you could get; try to come home to your kids,” Freddy P added.
Although Freddy P advised Diddy against taking the stand, legal experts believe the rapper may have no choice but to face questioning during his trial.
Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Johnny Depp’s attorney, Benjamin Chew, who represented Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard, remarked that the existing evidence against Diddy will likely compel him to testify.
Referring to a recording allegedly showing Diddy physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in California, Chew noted that Diddy would be forced to take the stand despite having apologized in a now-deleted Instagram video.
“That’s going to force him to testify, and I think he’s going to have to do an awful lot better than he did in that apology video if he’s going to convince one or two jurors to hang that jury. I don’t like his chances… Video is so damaging at any trial, whether it’s criminal or civil because it’s hard to explain away,” Chew said.
