Govt shows its commitment to improving education standards

To show its commitment towards improving the state of education across Balochistan, the provincial government has dismissed 114 teachers for chronic absenteeism.

This decisive action is part of a broader initiative to address long-standing issues within the education sector. An inquiry is currently underway against an additional 2,000 teachers, highlighting the government's commitment to accountability and transparency.

Balochistan Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani emphasised the importance of these reforms. "We are determined to ensure that every child in Balochistan has access to quality education. The dismissal of absentee teachers and the ongoing inquiries are necessary steps to achieve this goal," she stated.

In addition to addressing absenteeism, the government has successfully made 400 previously non-functional schools operational. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance educational infrastructure and ensure that schools are equipped to provide a conducive learning environment.

The reopening of these schools is expected to significantly increase access to education, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The education department's reforms also include the establishment of school management committees (SMCs) to empower local communities in school governance. Such bodies play a crucial role in monitoring school performance and ensuring that resources are utilized effectively.

The provincial government has also announced plans to construct new schools and upgrade existing ones. This initiative aims to address the shortage of educational facilities and accommodate the growing number of students. The government is committed to providing modern amenities and resources to enhance the learning experience.

Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani reiterated the government's dedication to educational reform, stating, "Our focus is on creating a robust education system that can cater to the needs of our children. We are working tirelessly to implement these reforms and bring about a positive change in the education sector."
