Nikki Glaser might be bringing her comedic touch to the 2025 Golden Globes as the host of the annual awards show next January.
Glaser, 40, expressed her excitement in a press release on Wednesday, August 28, stating that she is "absolutely thrilled" to be hosting the Golden Globes, one of her "favorite nights of television." She humorously added that she’s excited to have a "front-row seat" (although she acknowledges she’ll likely be hosting from the stage). She emphasized that the Golden Globes is not just a significant night for TV and film but also for comedy, noting that it’s one of the rare occasions when show business encourages and enjoys being "lovingly mocked" (at least she hopes so).
Glaser went on to explain that hosting the event is both exciting and challenging because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars, who might also be getting tipsy while sitting next to their recent exes.
This will be Glaser’s first time hosting the Golden Globes, which will air live on CBS on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
In her statement, Glaser shared that some of her favorite jokes have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues delivered by Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, or Ricky Gervais, who have said exactly what everyone needed to hear. She expressed her hope to continue that time-honored tradition, even if it might get her canceled. Glaser also joked that this is truly a dream job, as she no longer has to feel guilty about binge-watching TV shows and movies over the past year—it was all worth it.
Glaser is known for her sharp wit, most recently making jokes about Tom Brady in her live Netflix special.
