Elon Musk clarifies 'wants to die on Mars' comment after surprise speech at Hamptons event

Musk recently voiced his support for Donald Trump, hosted a discussion with the GOP candidate on his X platform.

Elon Musk made an unexpected appearance at Michael Milken’s annual Hamptons Prostate Cancer Foundation gala over the weekend, where he spoke in front of a crowd that included fellow billionaires like Julia Koch, Bill Ackman, Stephen Schwarzman, Rob Citrone, and Patrice Motsepe, among others.

Musk — whose tech ventures include Starlink, the satellite service that provided internet access to a secluded tribe in the Amazon — remarked that the upscale area of the Hamptons could benefit from some improvements.

A source told Page Six, “One of the highlights of Milken’s wide-ranging one-on-one chat with Elon was when [Musk was] asked about the success of Starlink, he talked about how bad cell service was in the Hamptons.”

“I had important texts to respond to on the way here and couldn’t… people were asking where I was, Timbuktu?” Musk jokes, according to our source.

Another insider mentioned that Musk shared at the Parrish Art Museum talk that, “he wanted to ‘die in a capsule off the coast of Mars.'”

The SpaceX founder has been striving to reach Mars, with the ultimate ambition of colonizing the planet.

Musk, who recently voiced his support for Donald Trump, hosted a discussion with the GOP candidate on his X platform — and has reportedly extended the same offer to Kamala Harris.

However, a source noted that during his talk in the Hamptons, Musk mostly avoided political topics, though there was “a brief discussion about immigration globally,” as well as education.

A source at the event said, “He got a standing ovation from a crowd of super rich financial types.”

Musk’s mother, model Maye Musk, also made an unexpected appearance at the charity event, which raised over $3 million for cancer research.

Also spotted at the event were “Cheers” star Kelsey Grammer, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex.), M.I.T. Media Lab star Neri Oxman, Christine Schwarzman, and Gina Carithers.
