Sabrina Carpenter is facing off with her toughest competitor—herself!
On Sunday, June 30, the former Disney star reshared a Pop Crave post announcing her hit song "Espresso" had climbed to the top of the global Spotify chart, dethroning her previous hit.
Carpenter, 25, humorously reacted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "This b----."
Fans on X had amusing reactions as well. One fan commented on her post, calling it "so rude of her" to outdo herself and playfully urged her to "FIGHT BACK." Another joked, "Not a girls girl if u ask me."
Carpenter's career has soared over the past year. She opened for her friend Taylor Swift during parts of the Eras Tour in 2023 and found significant success with her songs "Please Please Please" and "Espresso." Her new album, Short n’ Sweet, is set to release on August 23.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, the "Feather" singer discussed the overwhelming popularity of "Espresso."
“My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’ " she said of the song's success. "I just love that people get my sense of humor," she shared.
She also quipped that she is not apologizing for the song's incredibly catchy chorus, saying, "I decided to put that burden on other people."
"Espresso," which uses the coffee drink as a metaphor for infatuation, has led to a collaboration with Van Leeuwen on an espresso ice cream flavor and has even received praise from Adele.
