LAHORE: District and Session Judge Mujahid Mustaqim Ahmed has banned policemen from using lead pencils to record information in the police station’s daily diary, after receiving numerous complaints about records being forged. The judge issued a circular to all station house officers to this effect on Wednesday following the monthly meeting of the Criminal Justice Coordination Committee, which consists of judges, jail and police officials. The judge told senior police officials at the meeting that the committee had received a lot of complaints about the tampering of daily diaries, which was made easier because things were written down in pencil. The committee agreed that banning the use of pencils was a good idea.
