Katy Perry is finally making a comeback after a period of semi-retirement, during which she served as a judge on American Idol.
Earlier this year, she announced her departure from Idol and hinted at new music. She is scheduled to headline Brazil’s Rock In Rio festival tomorrow night, where fans eagerly anticipate her return.
This week, Perry unveiled the cover art for her upcoming single “Woman’s World,” set to release next month.
She also posted a video on social media, lip-syncing to a snippet of the track. While the posts went viral, they garnered mixed reactions, with some critics commenting on the music's quality and the visual similarities to Arca’s "KiCk i."
According to Rolling Stone, Perry's forthcoming album features collaborations with Dr. Luke and Max Martin. This marks Perry's first collaboration with Dr. Luke since Kesha’s 2014 lawsuit against him, which included accusations of abuse. The two settled the defamation lawsuit last year, issuing a joint statement.
A source from Capitol Records told Rolling Stone, “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen. And that includes previous collaborators including Luke, Stargate, Max Martin, and Sarah Hudson, and some new heavy hitters such as Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Valdes, and Theron Thomas.”
In response to the news, Kesha seemingly reacted with a tweet saying, “lol.”
