After 85 years of suspense, Archie Comics is set to resolve one of the most enduring questions in its history: Will Archie Andrews choose Betty Cooper or Veronica Lodge? In the upcoming one shot comic  "Archie: The Decision," which is scheduled for release on August 28, 2024.

The book is written by Tom King, known for his work on "Batman" and "Wonder Woman," with artwork by longtime Archie artist Dan Parent. The issue will feature a full cast of Riverdale characters, including Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Josie and the Pussycats, reacting to Archie's pivotal choice.

In an interview with Polygon, King expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "As a massive Archie fan, this is just a pure joy project for me. I wanted to do something zany and cool and screwball and hysterical and gorgeous and harebrained and maybe a little tiny itty-bitty bit profound as a tribute to my Golden and Silver Age Archie heroes." He added that he aims to capture the spirit of classic Archie creators like Dan DeCarlo and Harry Lucey .

Dan Parent, who has been illustrating Archie stories since 1987, spoke about his collaboration with King. "It's an honor and a privilege to team up with the best writer in modern comics, and the fact that he's a great guy and friend doesn't hurt either!" Parent said.

Archie Comics previously explored alternate outcomes where Archie married both Betty and Veronica in different timelines, as seen in the "Life With Archie" series. However, "Archie: The Decision" marks the first time a definitive choice will be made in the core Archie universe.

Tom King and Dan Parent's collaboration aims to provide a memorable and definitive answer to the iconic love triangle, ensuring a landmark moment in Archie Comics history. As King put it, "I'm not sure we can solve it, but, like all of Riverdale, we're going to have a ton of fun trying" .
