Soulja Boy has issued a public apology to fellow artist Metro Boomin following a series of inflammatory tweets that sparked considerable controversy within the hip-hop community.
The feud, ignited by a resurfaced 2012 tweet from Metro Boomin, led Soulja Boy to make several disrespectful comments about the producer’s late mother, who tragically passed away in 2022.
The tweet in question, reported by VIBE, saw Metro Boomin taking a jab at Soulja Boy's music career: “My phone rings to come to the studio with Jeezy. Yours rings to send Soulja Boy a pack of beats. Sit down.”
This prompted an intense reaction from Soulja Boy, who lashed out with remarks that he later regretted.
After reflecting on his actions, the rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his regret.
“I apologize to @MetroBoomin for overreacting over an old tweet,” he wrote on Wednesday afternoon.
He also disclosed his intention to seek professional help, stating, “Condolences to his mom. I’m going to seek therapy and anger management. I’m done responding to hate, new or old.”
The apology, however, has been met with skepticism from fans and followers, with some questioning the sincerity of his remorse given his history of public feuds.
During this, 21 Savage, a close ally of Metro Boomin, defended the producer by highlighting a financial discrepancy involving Soulja Boy, further intensifying the discourse around the situation.
Metro Boomin has yet to publicly respond to Soulja Boy’s apology.
