Kate Beckinsale has returned to the red carpet after a “rough year,” that included health issues for herself and her loved ones.
At the King’s Trust Gala in New York City, the actress told PEOPLE, “My parents have both been unwell and my cat ... it's been a bunch of things.”
She added, “It's nice to come and see friends and have a little perspective. Everyone's had a bit of a rough year, I think.”
Beckinsale wore a shimmering white organza gown with a dramatic one-shoulder design and a flowing skirt.
The actress also spoke about her long-standing support for the King's Trust charity, praising their work in helping children, stating, “It's so moving and inspiring.”
Several other stars also attended, including John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Penélope Cruz, and Lionel Richie.
This appearance marks Beckinsale's first red carpet event since the SAG-AFTRA awards in February.
The actor posted about her struggles in 2023, calling it “probably the hardest year of [her] life” in an Instagram caption.
While the exact reason for her hospitalization remains undisclosed, Beckinsale did hint at it with an earlier Instagram post featuring a “tummy troubles survivor” t-shirt.
