The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its 2024 inductees, and the list celebrates a spectrum of musical genres and eras.

This year's class is headlined by the iconic Cher, R&B queen Mary J. Blige, and the return of heavy metal's Ozzy Osbourne.

The roster also features 70s rock staples like Peter Frampton and Foreigner, 90s alt-rock favorites Dave Matthews Band, and the influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest.

In a surprising move, the late Jimmy Buffett was inducted via the "Musical Excellence" award, bypassing the traditional voting process. This category also welcomes Dionne Warwick and the proto-punk pioneers MC5.

The Hall of Fame made a notable effort to honor influential figures beyond the performance category.

Blues legends Alexis Korner and John Mayall received the "Musical Influence Award," while Motown songwriter/producer Norman Whitfield earned a posthumous "Musical Excellence" award.
Suzanne de Passe, a pivotal figure in Motown's success and a film/TV executive, receives the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

This year's inductees were announced during an "American Idol" broadcast, a first for the Hall of Fame.
