Courteney Cox in talks to return for 'Scream 7' alongside Neve Campbell

Cox was a franchise mainstay but did not share screen time with Campbell in the sixth installment of the film series.

After Neve Campbell's confirmed return to 'Scream 7', Courteney Cox could be the next veteran to join the cast.

Cox is in talks to reprise her iconic role as Gale Weathers. She was last seen in 2023's 'Scream VI', set in New York City.

Campbell's return in March was a major shift for the franchise. She initially opted out of 'Scream VI' due to a pay dispute. However, following the departures of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, the studio was eager to bring her back.

Barrera was dropped from her role for expressing support for Palestine. Ortega left due to scheduling conflicts. 'Scream' screenwriter Kevin Williamson will direct 'Scream 7'.

"Hi All. I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!" Campbell wrote in an Instagram statement. "It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned."
