Electioneering gathers pace in Badin

Party candidates, independents highlight their past achievements to win support

BADIN:

Amidst the fervour surrounding the upcoming general elections, canvassing in Badin has peaked, with various political parties and independent candidates vying for success. Key contestants include the PPP, GDA (Mirza Group), Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI-F, PTI, TLP, Awami Tehreek, Rah-e-Haq, be- sides several independent candidates. Leaders such as GDA’s Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Dr Fehmida Mirza, and GDA Mirza Group’s candidates, Amir Azad Pehnor, Hasnain Mirza, Hussam Mirza, and Mir Abdullah Talpur, along with Mir Hussain Bakhsh Talpur of NA-222, Matli, have actively engaged in election rallies across their constituencies.

They urged support for the GDA Mirza Group, emphasising the need to overcome the alleged oppression imposed on Sindh. The GDA Mirza Group candidates highlighted their historical development works in Badin, emphasising job creation and advocating for the rights of the people.

They asserted that the PPP had failed to address issues, accusing them of contributing to poverty, unemployment, insecurity, drug-related problems, and inflation in Sindh. Meanwhile, PPP’s candidates, Haji Rasool Bakhsh Chandio for NA-223 Badin 2, and Haji Taj Muhammad Malah for PS-71 Badin, de- fended their party’s record, citing public service, infra- structure projects, and sup- port for flood victims.

Independent candidates, Sardar Kamal Khan Chang and Sardar Anwar Mallah, along with PTI’s independent candidate, Khalifa Ashfaq Memon for PS-71 Badin, intensified their election activities, appealing to voters in various areas for support. Khalifa Ashfaq Memon urged the public to reject what he termed a “corrupt group” associated with Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, emphasising PTI’s commitment to addressing poverty, unemployment, and inflation.
