CM urges youth to embrace books

KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has highlighted the importance of books, languages and protection of creative rights in his messages marking World Book and Copyright Day, World English Language Day and World Spanish Language Day.

In a statement issued from his office, CM Shah said books remain a fundamental source of knowledge, awareness and intellectual awakening, adding that reading plays a vital role in enhancing creative and cognitive abilities. He stressed that promoting a culture of reading among the youth is the need of the hour, as books help build strong connections between generations and cultures.

The chief minister said the Sindh government is making efforts to promote Urdu and Sindhi literature at the global level. He added that Sindhi books represent a valuable repository of the province's history, culture and identity, and their preservation remains among the government's key priorities. He added that observing World Book Day aims to foster a love for reading and strengthen educational and literary activities.

Stressing the importance of copyright awareness, CM Shah said protection of creators' rights is essential for social development.
