Among many anticipating leading television star Yumna Zaidi’s grand film debut is the beloved star of transnational cinematic hits like Raees and The Legend of Maula Jatt, Mahira Khan. Taking to her Instagram Story, Mahira shared the official trailer of Yumna’s upcoming film, Nayab, commending her journey and wishing her luck
Penning her heartfelt message in the overlaying text, Mahira wrote, “You, my Yumna! You will kill it! Can’t wait to see you shine bright on the big screen inshAllah! Best of luck to the entire team of Nayab.” The Razia actor capped her note with a series of emojis to underscore her enthusiasm.
Yumna acknowledged the praise by resharing Mahira’s message to her Story with a “thank you” sticker.
After much wait, the Tere Bin actor is finally making her foray into cinema with Nayab. Helmed by director Umair Nasir Ali, the upcoming film’s synopsis promises “a girl’s cricket dreams, her brother's past and the family’s deep journey converge in this relatable coming-of-age story.” The official trailer for the film was released on December 10.
It introduces Yumna's character, Nayab, as a young woman with an unyielding passion for cricket. Undeterred by societal expectations, Nayab aspires to become a professional cricketer, challenging the ingrained beliefs that women are "incapable" of excelling in sports. The film not only highlights Nayab's personal journey but also sheds light on the broader issue of gender bias and the struggles women face when pursuing unconventional careers.
With stellar performances from the cast, including Zaidi, Siddiqui, Sheikh and Khan, Nayab promises to be a thought-provoking cinematic experience. Nayab is poised to be a game-changer, both on and off the screen, inspiring viewers to pursue their passions unapologetically and break free from societal constraints. The film is slated for a January 26 theatrical release next year.
