Jaweria Khanum, a resident of Karachi, on Tuesday departed for India via the Wagah border crossing to marry an Indian citizen. Her family bid her farewell as she crossed over into India.
Jaweria said that her initial plans to travel to India were hindered by the travel restrictions imposed in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus pandemic and subsequent visa issues. Despite facing challenges, she has now secured a visa after a five-year wait and is set to marry her fiancé Sameer Khan Yousafzai in India.

Expressing her difficulties, Jaweria revealed that her visa was rejected twice, and she was eventually granted a 45-day visa. The couple plans to marry in the first week of January, and Jaweria expressed her joy at fulfilling her wish after five years. She happily noted that her love story with fiancé Sameer would culminate in marriage. The connection between Jaweria and Sameer began in 2018 and evolved into a deep bond. She shared that her future husband and in-laws are eagerly awaiting her arrival at the Attari border. Following her entry, she will travel from Amritsar to Kolkata, where the marriage ceremony is scheduled to take place.
