Mianwali city, Kandian, Kalabagh, Kot Chandna, Kamar Mashani and their surrounding areas were devastated by the first spell of torrential rains on Saturday.
Rainwater entered people's houses, markets and shops.
The rivers and canals overflowed, and there was destruction everywhere.
Mianwali Rescue 1122 has cancelled leave of its staff under emergency conditions and sent them to the affected areas.
The low-lying area of Mohalla Qadirabad was flooded due to heavy rain in Mianwali where the water channel was blocked due to the newly-constructed road, and the water could not be drained.
As a result, the rainwater entered the houses of the residents and the household furniture and goods were destroyed.
One hundred houses were severely affected. There was a loss of millions of rupees, but people alleged that the administration didn’t come to their rescue.
People themselves helped each other by saving the household goods and in draining water. People looked helpless due to the intensity of the rain which continued for several hours.
Several nearby rain drains, including Nala Nihal Shah at Kalabagh and Nala Adwala at Kamar Shani overflowed. Water entered houses and shops in Kalabagh due to overflowing of Nihal Shah.
Sixty shops, including those of clothes, electronic items and grocery, and hundreds of houses located under the mountain in the low-lying area were completely submerged in water.
A social worker, Haji Muhammad Akram Ahmad Khel, prepared food and delivered it to the homes of people stuck in the rain.
The river in Kot Chandna also overflowed with water entering the houses in Kot Chandna and crops standing on 1,000 acres were also severely damaged due to the overflowing of the rivers. Three children and a woman who had been stuck in their house after rainwater entered it on Kalabagh Shakardara Road were rescued by Rescue 1122.
Meanwhile, a woman was injured when the roof of her house collapsed in Cheena Pura area. Another person was also injured when the roof of his house collapsed.
