Police say deceased died by suicide, register case

A man was crushed to death by a moving train on the railway track at the Sarai Saleh railway station at the intersection of Taxila and Havelian.

Police sources said that the victim was an Afghan national, Saeed, who died by suicide. They said the victim lay on the tracks when a train was coming. The police added that they were unaware of the reason behind the alleged suicide.

The body was shifted to a nearby hospital for the medico-legal procedure.

Meanwhile, in another distressing incident that took place in the vicinity of a camp of Afghan refugees in the Baka area, a man reportedly beat his mother, his wife and their three children with a hammer over a domestic dispute.

The victims were taken to the shifted to the Haripur Trauma Centre. Law enforcement authorities added that the two of the injured were in critical condition. The accused, meanwhile, had evaded arrest.

In a separate incident, armed bandits in masks robbed a citizen inside a car showroom and stole Rs1 million before escaping the scene. The incident took place near the Haripur-Paniyan bypass.

Police said that they had visited the crime scene to collect evidence and also set up blockades at various locations to apprehend the culprits.

In each instance, cases were registered and investigation was underway.
