Police say suspected secessionists were planning attacks

The Malir district police claimed to have arrested two alleged terrorists belonging to the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) who attacked the police mobile of Shah Latif Town police station last month.

The SSP district Malir Hasan Sardar Niazi stated during a press conference at his office that on March 29 of last month, terrorists had attacked the police mobile of the Shah Latif police station. After filing the complaint, the police and other law enforcement agencies expanded their operation and after many days of gruelling combat, they were able to capture two terrorists identified as Murad and Waris belonging to the outlawed BLF.

The SSP said that the BLF had claimed the responsibility for the grenade attack noting that the arrested terrorist lived in Lyari Baloch Mohalla and had spent the previous eight months working for the outlawed BLF Commander Ali Hasan Sangi.

The next intended target of terrorists was Chinese nationals in the metropolis who are engaged in a variety of projects, SSP Hasan Sardar said and added that the BLF leader had given the arrested terrorists five hand grenades and Rs80,000. The police have recovered four hand grenades and weapons from the possession of the arrested terrorists, the SSP added. He said that the terrorists were planning to flee to Turbat but the timely operation by agencies resulted into their arrest.

He also claimed that they had come to Karachi with a planning to carry out terrorist attacks on the anniversary of the female suicide bomber Shari Baloch.
