KARACHI:

Police have registered a case of crude oil theft from the pipeline of a private oil company near Sea View on Saturday. The case was registered at Darakshan police station on the complaint of the company's assistant security officer, Azizur Rahman, against unidentified suspects.

In the FIR, the security officer stated that his company's oil pipeline runs underground from Keamari TS-I to PS-I Korangi. On the night of March 15, around 1 o'clock, his company supervisor Jamshed informed him by the phone that there was a crude oil smell near Sea View. After reaching the spot and inspecting the place, he found out that the smell of crude oil was coming from a hole flowing into a sewerage drain from which oil was falling into the sea.

Rahman added that he immediately reported it to his superiors and also informed the maintenance team of the company about the rupture. The team in-charge, Sami, excavated the site under the supervision of police. It turned out that the unidentified thieves had ruptured the company's pipeline and fitted it with a high pressure pipe to steal oil from it, he further stated.
