Commissioner stresses significance of resolving revenue matters

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatha paid a visit to the office of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, during which a comprehensive briefing was provided on several matters, including revenue objectives, development projects, price control, supply of fertilizer and flour, kite flying, and census.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Murree Captain (retd) Qasim Ijaz, assistant commissioners of all tehsils of the district and officers of various departments attended the meeting.

On the occasion, Commissioner Rawalpindi emphasised the importance of resolving revenue matters promptly and efficiently. He warned that officers and officials who fail to meet revenue targets or neglect their duties will face severe consequences. He also urged all assistant commissioners to take responsibility for improving the revenue system and proposed the creation of a WhatsApp group for revenue staff to raise awareness among the public about revenue matters in their region.

During the briefing, it was conveyed to Commissioner Rawalpindi that a total of 75,51,447 bags of flour will be distributed to deserving individuals free of cost, with 100,000 bags of flour to be given away daily. To facilitate this distribution, 232 trucking points have been established throughout the district.

Commissioner Rawalpindi said that bags of flour will be distributed free of charge to deserving individuals in accordance with the directives of the Punjab government. Furthermore, he emphasised the need for strict action to be taken against those engaged in kite flying and selling.

He called for the strict implementation of the Marriage Act, such that wedding halls that violate timing restrictions should be fined and shut down. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the census personnel currently working in the district. He advised that price lists should be developed with consultation of trader organisations and should be prominently displayed to ensure effective price control measures.

He emphasized the need for concerned officers to actively participate in efforts to beautify GT Road, which is a vital route in the district. He also directed for Basic Health Units to be adequately equipped with all necessary medical facilities to ensure access to quality healthcare for all.
