KHANEWAL:

Seven armed robbers looted three houses after holding residents hostage in a late-night incident in the Sarai Sidhu police limits, officials said on Saturday.

According to details, the incident took place around 2:00am in the Pul Gamo Wali area, where the suspects, armed with pistols and rifles, entered the house of a commission agent, Nawazish Ali, by scaling the boundary wall.

The robbers held the family at gunpoint and looted Rs500,000 in cash.

They then forced Nawazish Ali to accompany them to his brother Sadaqat's house, where they confined the family members in a room, seized their mobile phones, and took away gold jewellery worth Rs1 million.

The suspects later moved to the house of a third brother, Asif Ali, an employee of a sensitive institution who was posted in another city.

The robbers held his family hostage, locked them in a room, confiscated their mobile phones, and looted Rs100,000 in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs1.5 million.

Police said the robbers continued their looting spree for nearly half an hour before locking the residents inside their homes and fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving information, SP CCD Ishaq Sial, DSP Kabirwala Circle Munawar Gujjar, and SHO Sarai Sidhu reached the site.
