ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the victory of Jamaat e Islami (JI) in a Union Council of Karachi in the recent local government elections.

ECP also ordered to release results of UC4 of Liaquatabad Ibne Sina Town. The electoral watchdog also dismissed the PTI's application in its order saying that the applicants can go to the Election Tribunal, if they want.

According to the Returning Officer (RO), JI had secured 1,818 votes and PTI got 1,260 votes.

PTI was accused of presenting tampered form 11 as evidence before the ECP.

Meanwhile, in a petition filed by JI regarding rigging in the local government elections in Karachi, the ECP dismissed the returning officer (RO) of Union Council 7 Sultanabad, Keamari. An inquiry committee headed by the provincial election commissioner was formed to conduct an inquiry against the RO and ordered to submit an immediate report.
