ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque has announced that over 70 connectivity projects worth Rs65 billion that are underway in the far-flung areas will be completed by June next year.

The minister was talking to a GSMA delegation that met him at his office on Friday.

Haque said that after the completion of the connectivity projects, 28 million people would benefit from broadband facilities.

“It is my moral responsibility to play a role in resolving the issues faced by the telecom industry,” he stressed and praised the services of the Universal Service Fund (USF) for helping undertake the connectivity projects.

During the meeting, GSMA Head of APAC (Asia-Pacific) Julian Gorman assured the minister that the telecom lobby would fully cooperate with the IT ministry in all relevant fields. He appreciated the ministry for its efforts to promote digitalisation in the country.
