KARACHI:

The President of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Asif Ali Zardari said that the PPP fulfilled the mission of party's great leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

On October 18, 2017, a bomb exploded near Karsaz intersection on the route of the motorcade carrying former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on her return to Pakistan. The bombing occurred two months before she was assassinated. The explosion killed 180 people and injured 500, mostly members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

In his message on the occasion of the Karsaz tragedy anniversary, Zardari said, PPP restored the 1973 Constitution in its original form, wrested control from the militants and hoisted the national flag in Swat, gave autonomy to the provinces, gave identity to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a statement issued from the Bilawal House on Monday.

He further said that the poor and deserving women were made partakers in society through Benazir Income Support Programme. The 18th Amendment guarantees the country's survival and integrity.

Zardari said our struggle is for employment of the youth, economic prosperity and social justice. The PPP completed Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's mission by giving power back to the Parliament, that was stolen by dictators.

A place such as Thar is contributing towards the progress of the country by generating electricity and illuminating the lives of the people, he said.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Karsaz tragedy, "the day reminds us of the sacrifices of the leaders and workers of the Party during the struggle to restore and strengthen democracy in the country." The PPP skipped its traditional public meeting in Karachi to mark the anniversary of the Karsaz bombing.
