A special committee headed by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been formed to look into increasing complaints about illegal housing schemes in the province.
The committee was constituted after the chief minister took stern notice of the increasing complaints of people regarding the illegal housing schemes.
On the directives of the chief minister, the special committee has been constituted to review matters regarding the illegal housing societies. The Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti issued the notification of the constitution of the committee.
The Chief Minister’s Adviser Amir Saeed Ran, the provincial housing and local government secretaries, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general and the deputy commissioner concerned will be members of the committee. The secretary of the housing ministry will act as the secretary of the committee headed by the chief minister.
The special committee will be authorised to include any officer in its work.
The panel will identify and categorise the total number of illegal housing societies.
It will also review the instances of housing societies being launched without the approval of the competent authority or with poor planning, as well as those facing land acquisition issues.
The special committee will submit its recommendations and proposals after reviewing the existing rules and regulations.
According to an official announcement, the panel will propose a comprehensive solution to the problems being faced by the residents of the unapproved and illegal housing societies.
Rehabilitation work
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi claimed while addressing the inaugural ceremony at Grand Asian University of Sialkot that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had not given a single penny to the Punjab government from the aid being received from the foreign countries to help the flood-affected people.
He said the Punjab government had received relief aid from Sheikh Al-Nahyan and other rulers. “I did a telethon with former prime minister Imran Khan and collected Rs2.5 billion, which are being disbursed to all the flood-affected people of all provinces.
He said the prime minister went to London to meet his absconder brother. “Let the absconder brother return. He will be apprehended him the moment he returns. The cases on Sharif family were not filed during the government of Imran Khan, they were made earlier,” he asserted.
Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi announced that 100,000 people would be given jobs in the province in the police, local government and other departments.
He announced that the stipend to be paid to the girl students of schools in the 14 districts of South Punjab would be increased. Free education up to graduation will be offered across Punjab and free books will be given up to the BA level.
He said Rescue 1122 had done most of the work during the flood after the army.
