Cop killed, another injured in encounter

LAHORE:

A police constable was martyred and another injured during an exchange of fire between Crime Control Department (CCD) personnel and proclaimed offenders in the Kahna area of Lahore on Tuesday.

According to police, the encounter occurred when a CCD team launched a targeted operation to arrest suspects wanted in serious crimes, including robbery and extortion. As officials attempted to apprehend them, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting retaliatory action from the police.

During the exchange, Constable Razzaq Dogar sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead. Another constable, Imran Ashraf, was injured in the firing and shifted to Jinnah Hospital Lahore, where he is currently under treatment.

Police officials confirmed that one of the suspects was killed in the crossfire, while his accomplice managed to escape.
