Govt jolts bureaucracy with 54 transfers

34 officers transferred from Punjab Administrative Services Officers to other departments

Despite its own future hanging in the balance and having no cabinet, the provincial government continues to shuffle the government officers of both administrative services and police cadre, to bring in its team.

The Punjab government transferred 34 Punjab Administrative Services Officers mostly of grade 20 and grade 21. The government also repatriated 13 PAS officers to Islamabad and seven officers of Police Services of Pakistan.

This is not the first round of transfers and postings, but interestingly all of these are being done despite the absence of any government, which thus far requires a working cabinet.

Since there is no cabinet in Punjab, the inputs regarding the fate of the officers came from the close aides of the Punjab chief minister.

Officers repatriated back to Islamabad have termed the move injustice and against the predefined rules.

An officer of police services, talking to The Express Tribune said that most of the officers on the list belonged to other provinces, who have served less than three years in Punjab, while of which some even served less than a year.

He said of these officers, there were the ones who were not even given a single day posting in the field. “What can this government have against them?” remarked.

He said officers from Sindh seemed to be on the government’s radar. He said officers from Sindh were the ones, who have served the least number of days in Punjab. “The government should be more judicious while deciding the matters of the transfer and posting.”

As per the notification, Asadullah Khan (BS 21) working as C&W secretary was transferred and posted as Punjab Agriculture secretary Mujahid Sherdil (BS 20) P&D Department secretary was posted as C&W secretary. Specialised Health and Medical Education Department Special Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti (BS 19) was transferred and posted as secretary Energy Department, he was also entrusted an additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure Development Authority, Syed Mubassshir Hussain BS (20) who was posted Secretary Environment Protection Department was removed from his post, while Naeem Rauf (BS20) posted Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department secretary was posted in place of Mubasshir Hasan as Environment Protection Department secretary.

Asad Gillani (BS 21 posted as Agriculture Department secretary was transferred as Secretary Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department.

Dr Muhammad Suhail Shahzad (BS 20) posted as Labour and Human Resource Department secretary was removed from his post, Liaquat Ali Chatha (BS 20) currently posted as DG Khan commissioner was posted as Secretary Labour and Human Resource Department.

Usman Ali Anwar (BS 20) awaiting posting was posted DG Khan commissioner. Amir Ijaz Akbar (BS 21) posted as Secretary Mines and Mineral was removed from his post and Muhammad Ali Ammar (Bs20) posted as DG Libraries was transferred and posted Mines and Mineral secretary.

Waqas Ali Mehmood (BS 21) Secretary Excise was transferred and posted as Secretary Bait Ul Mal, while, Saima Saeed (BS 21) posted as Woman Development Department secretary was transferred and posted Excise secretary.

Sumaira Samad (BS 20) secretary Baitul Mal was posted as Woman Development Department secretary.

Ali Sarfraz Hussain (BS 20) who was posted as DG Food was transferred and posted as Secretary Urban Development additionally he was also given the additional charge of Secretary Higher Education Department.

Nadir Chatha (BS 19) who was currently posted as Secretary Transport was transferred and posted as Food secretary.

Muhammad Ahsan Waheed was posted as Member Judicial one Board of Revenue was transferred and posted as Secretary Transported additionally he was given the charge of Chairman PTA.
