Govt makes massive reshuffle in bureaucracy

The government on Wednesday ordered a big reshuffle in the federal bureaucracy, changing top officials in several departments, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Pakistan Railways, according to the notifications of appointments and transfers issued by the Establishment Division on Wednesday.

According to a notification, Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, a Grade 21 officer of Inland Revenue Service (IRS), had been removed from the post of FBR chairman. In his place, Asim Ahmed, also a Grade 21 officer of the IRS, has been appointed as the new FBR chairman, after approval from the federal cabinet.

Among other changes, Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zafar Zaman Ranjha has been appointed additional secretary (in-charge) Railways Division, while the post of additional secretary Railways Division had been withdrew from Khalid Ali Raza Gardezi.

The government directed Usman Akhtar Bajwa, Additional Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office to report to Establishment Division, while Additional Finance Secretary Sarah Saeed, a Grade 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, was posted as the Prime Minister's Office additional secretary.

Additional Secretary Education Mohiuddin Wani, a Grade 21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, had been appointed as the Gilgit-Baltistan chief secretary. Former secretary Poverty Alleviation Muhammad Ali Shahzada had been directed to report to Establishment Division.

In-charge Inter-Provincial Coordination Division Mohsin Mushtaq Chandana had been posted additional secretary in-charge of the Information Technology Division and Additional Secretary Interior Fakhr Alam had been made additional secretary in charge of Poverty Alleviation Division.

Additional Secretary In-charge Power Asif Shah had been appointed as the additional secretary in-charge Climate Change Division. Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry, the Education Division joint secretary, had been appointed Education Division additional secretary under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act.
