Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o of Black Panther and 12 Years a Slave fame recently took Pakistani Twitter by storm after photographs of her at a local wedding surfaced online. The actor, who is in Karachi to attend the wedding of artist Misha Japanwala, has been committed to sharing her Karachi experience with her followers on Instagram, posting sneak peeks from the wedding, as well as pictures and videos of her touring the city.

The actor shared photos with the bride and groom on her Instagram stories, revealing that she knows the couple from her college days. Lupita wrote, “YSD [Yale School of Drama] class of 2012. We’ve stuck together. Very proud of us!”

She posted pictures of herself in full desi attire, donning a blush pink Anita Dongre shalwar kameez with a floral print. The actor looked stunning, pairing the casual outfit with white tie-up embellished flats and a pair of beautiful diamond drop earrings.

The shalwar set was accessorised with a blush pink manicure and pedicure, as well as a matching potla. The actor also shared pictures of her hands adorned with henna in a simple design.

In a separate series of pictures, the actor was seen in a basic embroidered white and black kurta and matching trousers, with Lupita donning a black headscarf while she went out and about touring the city. Captioning one of the photos, “A Kenyan caught in Karachi,” the actor posed in front of a tiled wall.

In another similar photograph, Lupita posed with her arms folded in front of a typical decked out Pakistani bus, with the actor deeming Pakistan an “aesthetic force”. In another video, she shared that she is “loving the desi groove” while jamming to music.

Not only did Lupita pose in front of the bedazzled bus, she also shared videos sitting on the roof of one while touring the old parts of the city. Sharing pictures from Empress Market and having chai at a dhaba in the area, the actor was committed to getting the full Karachi experience.

For the wedding ceremony, the actor donned a bright pink lehenga choli with silver embellishments. On the other hand, for the wedding reception, Lupita opted for a lilac off-shoulder dress, complete with fur detailing along the border. She went for a desi fusion vibe, accessorising the dress with heavy gold jhumkas.

The actor was dolled up by celebrity makeup artist Rhyan Thomas, who posted a selfie with her on his Instagram stories, writing, “I have been MIA for the past few weeks and it has been nothing but a rollercoaster ride for me. What started off from direct messages translated into one of my most exciting experiences.”

He continued, “A full week of getting to work alongside Lupita Nyong’o, who is truly the most humble and kind person. I had so much fun working with you and I can’t wait to do it all over again.”

In another post made earlier this week by journalist Sadiq Saleem, Lupita was pictured at a Karachi beach in a black and white playsuit along with choreographer Zahid Hussain. The post read, “Just before you hit the bed, let me tell you that Lupita is in Karachi dancing the night away at a beach wedding. Misha Japanwala tied the knot today! Seen with her is the go-to wedding choreographer Zahid Hussain. Hope the beach was clean!”

Misha, who tied the knot with actor Fisher Neal, recently made headlines for her wearable body casting being donned by American rapper Cardi B. The artist has also previously collaborated with Halsey and Gigi Hadid.
