‘Traders’ issues to be resolved on priority'

Traders say that solid steps should be taken to remove encroachments

RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Mehmood Murtaza said on Wednesday that problems being faced by city traders would be addressed on a priority basis.

Talking to a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries, he said that that measures would be taken to provide parking facilities to traders at vacant plots of the municipal corporation and the Tehsil Office Rawalpindi. He said that an operation would also be launched against encroachments.

Talking about the Ring Road project, he said that work on the stalled project would be kicked off on December 25. Murtaza said shifting the wholesale markets and truck terminals along the Ring Road would help ease traffic congestion within the city.

The traders said that solid steps should be taken to remove encroachments from main commercial areas immediately. The traders said that encroachments cause traffic congestion.

The RDA chairman said that a meeting would be convened in this regard with and the City Traffic Officer would be invited for a briefing. The traders assured full cooperation to end all encroachments.
