GOJRA:

A girl was allegedly gangraped after being called for a job interview and left later on Gojra Motorway.

Police shifted the victim to a hospital, registered a case against four suspects, including a woman, and arrested two of them. Gojra police officials said a report was lodged by Shaheen Akhtar, a resident of Chak No. 256RB, that her 19-year-old niece had been gang-raped.

The complainant stated that the girl had been living with her for a long time and was looking for a job. On October 11, she applied for a job at a boutique and received a text message on her mobile phone, calling her to Gojra for an interview in the afternoon. She was told that she would be picked up for the interview in Gojra.

The woman stated that she accompanied her niece to Gojra and met Hamad, Rehman and Laiba, residents of Canal Road Garden in Toba Tek Singh, who were in two cars. The woman accompanying the suspects took the girl along with Rehman in a car for interview on the motorway.

Gojra city police registered a case against the suspects under Section 365B and 376 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The police arrested the prime suspect Hamad and Rehman. Punjab Police Inspector General Rao Sardar Ali Khan and Faisalabad RPO Imran Mehmood sought a report after the news of gang-rape on the motorway was broadcast. They sought a report about the incident from the Toba Tek Singh district police officer (DPO) and issue orders for a DNA test of the victim.

Meanwhile in Thikriwala a minor girl and a woman were allegedly raped while another woman escaped the rape attempt by making noise, on Thursday. Police have registered cases and started searching for the suspects. The police said complainant Muhammad Imran, a resident of Sadhupura Street No. 8, told the police that his 10-year-old daughter went to the house of neighbour Liaquat Ali to play with children, where the incident took place.
