OKARA:

A couple living in Hujra Shah Muqeem were brutally killed after abduction and pieces of their bodies were found in a canal.

According to Haveli Lakha Police Station SHO Sanaullah, the father of Ayesha Bibi had lodged the first information report (FIR) of her and his son-in-law's abduction a day earlier.

Their bodies were recovered from Malka Hans Canal.

The police official told The Express Tribune that search for the couple was under way when a report was received that the bodies of a man and a woman had been found in Malka Hans Canal.

The police informed the complainant Sanaullah about the development, who identified the bodies as those of his daughter and son-in-law.

According to police investigators, the deceased man allegedly had a dispute over a house.

Police shifted the bodies to a hospital and both the deceased were buried after postmortem. Okara District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shehzad directed the Haveli Lakhs station house officer (SHO) and Depalpur deputy superintendent of police (DSP) to ensure an efficient investigation of the case.

He said no lenience should be shown with the killers.  The police carried out raids to apprehend suspects about whom the woman's father expressed suspicions in his complaint.

An official said one suspect had been detained and was being interrogated.

The district police chief said detailed investigation into the case was under way.
