Punjab extends drone ban until April 25
.

The Punjab government has extended the ban on flying drones in open spaces across the province for another 30 days under Section 144, citing security concerns.
The notification, issued by the Home Department, stated that the restriction on outdoor drone operations will remain in force until April 25. Authorities said the decision was taken in view of prevailing security challenges and the need to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
A spokesperson for the Home Department clarified that the ban applies strictly to outdoor drone usage across Punjab.
However, limited use of small drones will be permitted inside halls and marquees during events, subject to strict safety compliance.
The statement added that organisers of indoor events would be responsible for ensuring the safe and controlled use of drones within enclosed premises.
According to the notification, intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban, allowing them to use drones for official purposes. The government has directed district administrations and police across Punjab to strictly enforce the orders.
Officials emphasised that protecting public safety, maintaining peace, and safeguarding property remain top priorities.
