Provincial Ombudsman, recently tasked by the chief minister to propose reforms for the cleanliness of Lahore, held a meeting on Wednesday with officers concerned amid dissatisfaction with the measure taken by the administrative machinery of the province so far.
Punjab Ombudsman Major (retd) Azam Suleman Khan was assigned the responsibility to propose measures for improvement of the solid waste management system in Lahore, by the chief minister a few days ago.
The ombudsman had already taken serious notice regarding the cleanliness situation of Lahore, a few weeks back upon receiving a large number of complaints.

The office said when the ombudsman called on CM Punjab and shared his workings with the government, he was assigned to submit his proposal on cleanliness in Lahore and proposal on Jail Reforms.
The government since last month has been in a “Khidmat Aap Ki Dehleez Per” programme under which since May 27, the government is holding a one-week cleanliness drive which still continues to this day.
Under this programme, the administration had to direct all its energy on ensuring the task at hand, however, it seems the provincial administration, despite all its effort focused on cleaning Lahore, has failed to even win back the confidence of its own government.
