HYDERABAD:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed hope that the province will get its due share of water after the upcoming meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).

"The prime minister [Imran Khan] has promised that the expert committee will submit its report in the CCI's next meeting and that Sindh will get its right," he said while talking to the media after inaugurating Bakhtawar Cadet College for Girls in Shaheed Benazirabad district on Friday.

He recalled that when Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was the PM three years ago, he had made some recommendations in order to address the problem of the water shortage. The CM added that in the December 2019, a report submitted by the attorney general during a CCI meeting supported Sindh's stance on water.

"But instead of making a decision of the basis of the attorney general's report a new committee was announced to review the issue and submit its recommendations in a month," he decried, and lamented that the committee was formed belatedly.

The CM also deplored that CCI meetings were not being held as per the three-month schedule.

Earlier, he said the first girls' cadet college had been established under the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari. The college will be administered by the Pakistan Air Force.

Education Works chief engineer Khalil Ahmad Shaikh briefed the ceremony about the college, stating that the college was spread over 100 acres of land. It houses hostels for teachers and students, a residential colony, academic and administration blocks and sports grounds, among other facilities.
