Fire erupts in shopping centre parking area

Seven motorcycles, furniture shop destroyed

KARACHI:

Several fire incidents reported in different parts of the city resulted in the destruction of large quantities of cloth and other valuables worth millions of rupees.

A fire broke out at a shopping centre in Buffer Zone in which seven motorcycles and a furniture shop was destroyed. Firefighters controlled the blaze and prevented it from spreading further.

The fire erupted in the parking area of Erum Shopping Centre located in Sector 15/A, Buffer Zone. Two fire brigade vehicles and a Rescue 1122 team, accompanied by a fire truck and ambulances, rushed to the scene and launched firefighting operations. Rescue teams safely evacuated children trapped in a flat using ladders.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the financial losses have yet to be assessed. The exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.

In another incident, a fire broke out in a house in Machhar Colony, Sohrab Goth. Officials of the KMC Fire Brigade stated that the fire erupted in a cloth warehouse set up inside a residential house. A total of four fire tenders and one water bowser participated in the operation. After nearly an hour of strenuous efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and began cooling operations.

A fire broke out in a house near Bukhari Commercial Street 4, Phase VI, Defence Housing Authority. Rescue 1122 firefighters responded promptly and successfully extinguished the blaze after intensive efforts. No injuries or loss of life were reported.

Meanwhile, a fire also erupted in electricity meters near Madras Chowk in Gulzar-e-Hijri, Scheme 33. Rescue 1122 personnel reached the location and brought the fire under control.
