Wrong injection case

Separately, the East Judicial Magistrate directed the police to launch an inquiry against all the nominated accused in a case pertaining to the death of an infant allegedly caused by a wrong injection administered at Fatima Hospital.

The directives were issued during a hearing at Karachi City Court.

The court forwarded the case challan submitted by the police to a sessions and district court judge for further legal proceeding and directed the investigation officer to open an inquiry against Fatima Hospital's accused administrative official, Feroze Ali, Medical Superintendent Dr Hussain, and Dr Dilber.

At the last hearing, the police had changed the status of the case to C-class and submitted the case challan, stating that the complainant wanted to refrain from taking further legal action against the hospital.

The complainant, Altaf Hussain, had stated that his wife gave birth to twin babies, a boy and a girl, at Fatima Hospital. The babies had to be vaccinated the next day as per the doctor's instruction but the condition of baby girl deteriorated after the vaccination. However, the doctor sent them home, claiming everything to be alright but the baby never woke up after falling asleep as her mother fed her.

The case against the three accused was registered at Soldier Bazaar Police Station.
