RAWALPINDI:

The Airport police on Monday claimed that the two alleged robbers injured in an encounter with police near Awaan Chowk on Saturday night were hit by the bullets fired by their accomplice.

According to the FIR of the incident, a mobile squad of the Airport police station signalled three young men going on a motorbike to stop, however, they sped away.

ASI Muhammad Bin Qasim stated in the FIR that police chased the suspects, later identified as Shakir Ullah, Muhammad Atif and Ajab Khan, but they did not stop and finally lost control of the bike and fell down.

The patrol party told the suspects to surrender, instead they ran away and Ajab Khan started firing from a pistol. Bullets fired by Khan hit Shakir and Atif and they fell down. One of the bullets fired by the suspect narrowly missed constable Amir and struck the police mobile. While police took the injured suspects into custody, Khan slipped away in the dark.
