Sindh reports 890 more Covid-19 cases

Coronavirus claims 32 more lives in province

The death toll owing to Covid-19 rose to 3,957 on Wednesday with 32 more people succumbing to the dreaded virus. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here yesterday.

The chief minister said 10,954 persons were tested, of which 890 cases were positive. This constitutes 8.1 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 2,675,845 tests have been conducted against which 243,682 cases were diagnosed. Of theSE 91 percent or 222,037 patients have recovered, including 1030 overnight.

The CM said that currently 17,688 patients were under treatment, of which 16,796 were in home isolation, 12 at isolation centers and 880 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 800 patients was stated to be critical, including 88 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of the 890 new cases, 601 were detected from Karachi. The break-up is 202 cases reported from district East, 125 from Korangi, 101 Central, 81 South, 64 Malir and 28 from West.

In the interior of Sindh, Mirpurkhas reported 31 cases, Hyderabad 29, Kamber 27, Matiari 23, Badin 21, Dadu 20, Jacobabad 18, Sanghar 15, Shaheed Benazirabad 13, Tando Muhammad Khan 12, Larkana, Umerkot, Nausheroferoze, Tando Allahyar and Ghotki 9 each, Khairpur 5, Sukkur 3 and Thatta 1.
