Sindh reports 1,769 infections, 14 fatalities

Provincial Covid death toll nears 3,750

Another 1,769 cases of coronavirus were diagnosed in the province overnight. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday, adding that the virus tally in the province had soared to 230,718.

Shah added that 14 Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus overnight, lifting the virus-related death toll to 3,744.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 14,519 samples were tested for the virus between Monday and Tuesday, of which 12.2 per cent turned out to be positive.

He further informed that there are currently 16,847 active coronavirus cases in Sindh. Of these, 15,938 are in home isolation, 897 are being treated in different hospitals and 12 are admitted at isolation centres. He added that the condition of 871 patients is said to be critical and 84 of them have already been shifted on ventilators.

On the other hand, the CM informed that 888 people had recovered from coronavirus, taking the number of people who have recovered from the contagion in Sindh to 210,127.

Shah stated that of the newly reported cases, 1,458 were diagnosed in the port city, with 546 cases in the East district, 496 in South, 173 in Korangi, 143 in Central, 51 in Malir and 49 in the West district.
