Being a police officer is a risky job as they have to handle brutal and mindless violence, said Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamilur Rehman while laying a floral wreath at the National Police Martyrs’ Monument on Monday.
Upon his arrival at the Police Line Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of the Islamabad police presented a guard of honour. Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed, Headquarters DIG and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
The police chief mentioned that capital police have prevented numerous disasters by timely acting against anti-social elements. He further stated that 50 policemen embraced martyrdom in the line of duty but did not bow in the face of injustice.
“Everyone is proud that Islamabad Police has always prioritsed the sense of duty towards its citizens over their own lives,” he maintained, adding that the department is proud of its brave and gallant shaheeds.
He further urged other officers to devote their lives to serving others because no other task is better than it. Rehman said there is no alternate to life, however, families of martyred personnel would be provided all out support.
