Railways Minister Muhammad Azam Khan Swati vowed on Wednesday to utilise all available resources to overcome losses in the Pakistan Railways and transform it into a profitable institution.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the Karachi divisional superintendent's office.

During the meeting, the divisional superintendent briefed Swati about his division's performance, with special focus on freight services and the revival of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR). The divisional superintendent also informed the minister about the ongoing court cases, particularly those pertaining to encroachments, in which the railways department was a party.

Addressing the meeting, Swati said, "The railways have unlimited potential, which, if utilised properly, can usher in a new era of economic prosperity and vitality."

He emphasised on the need to ensure punctual arrival and departure of trains, which, the minister said, would improve the Pakistan Railways' perception in the public.

The minister added that all railways officials should focus on and work towards the achievement of the Pakistan Railways' fiscal targets.

Separately, Swati met Sindh governor Imran Ismail and discussed the revival of the Pakistan Railways, the development of the KCR on modern lines and the progress of the ML-1 project. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said the federal government was taking measures to introduce reforms in all national institutions. Swati assured the governor that steps would be taken for the revival of the Pakistan Railways.
