Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan are gearing up for Coolie No 1's release on 25 December. Ahead of the release, the makers have dropped new songs in a sequence among which is the remake of the 90s classic Mirchi Lagi Toh. Varun and Sara took Bollywood fans into a frenzy as they reenacted the popular 90s track featuring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, said Pinkvilla.

The makers have reserved the original track with just a few alterations. However, the video of the new release is worlds apart from the original and is all things different, fun and perky.

In the video, we get to see Varun and Sara wearing bright pastels as they dance to some fun choreography with their expressions in focus. The song unwrapped to mixed feedback on social media as some fans called it a blockbuster hit, while others condemned the makers for re-creating previous songs in the film.

“Judge me all you want, but I enjoyed #MirchiLagiToh. I’m so glad that even though two popular songs from #CoolieNo1 are remixes, they’ve retained aspects from the original. I like it,” a user tweeted on Twitter.

Following the chain another user tweeted, “Original always better. Karishma and Govinda were much better, funnier and natural. Just stop remaking 90s films and songs Folded hands #MirchiLagiToh #CoolieNo.1”

Lastly a fan of the duo concluded, “#MirchiLagiToh has such a Disney feel to it. Those colorful costumes & sets, the fun, the energy etc. It takes me back to my childhood. And I love that the song is so 90s.Hands down my favorite song from the album. This is a sure shot winner.”

While Govinda and Karisma Kapoor's version of Mirchi Lagi Toh song was sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik, the new rendition has been done by Sara and Poonam Tiwari.
