Woman, boy ‘sexually assaulted’

Victims were threatened to remain silent by the accused

A woman and a 12-year-old boy were allegedly sexually assaulted in the city on Monday.

After registering cases, the police launched raids to nab the accused. Police said, citing a complaint, that Maqsood Ahmed the house of a woman of Jaranwala Road, near Chak No 400GB, and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint. The victim was also threatened to remain silent after the assault.

Separately, a minor boy, the son of Zargar Abdul Ghafoor and a resident of Chak No 410GB, was on his way to a shop to buy grocery when accused Ghulam Rasool alias Sunni, Mohammad Talha and four others kidnapped him and took him to their place.

The accused allegedly raped him and also made a video on their mobile phone.

The victim was threatened by the accused that if he told anyone about the rape, the video would be uploaded on social media. Police registered cases under sections 377, 292B, 292C and 376 of Pakistan Penal Code and started raids to arrest the accused. A number of incidents of sexual violence against women and minors have been reported in the province in recent weeks.

On November 17, an influential landlord had allegedly raped and murdered a minor girl in Sargodha district.

The crime took place in the suburbs of Bhalwal from where the body of an eight-year old girl was found.
