Watch: Viral video of a Biryani recipe irks Twitter

The sentiments of several desis have been hurt and the makers have now apologised

Entertainment Desk October 02, 2020

A viral tutorial on how to make Biryani is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons.

The video not only shows the incorrect way to make Biryani, but has also been deemed an insult to every desi's favourite dish by netizens. And since the average Pakistani's attachment to a scrumptious plate of Biryani has been underestimated through this 'insulting' video to 'sacred' dish, users have taken it upon themselves to get back at the makers with hilarious memes.

Chivalry is dead

Biryani isn't a dish, it's a lifestyle

The ONLY way

Le Biryani: Am I a joke to you?

The aliens have heard us and they're coming to Earth

It's alright, it's okay. The makers have now apologised for getting Biryani wrong and are "sorry."

"We will remove the video and would like to make a #BiryaniTogether -- to all recipe developers and chefs who would like to work with us on a traditional recipe, please make contact with us and let’s do it #together," they've tweeted.

Here's hoping they get it right this time!

as a non desi,i find it really useful to see how things should be done ,and how things should not be done.I hate it when i try to cook something and people come and bully me for my attempt, and just all around make me feel like the worst creature on the planet.I shared a home with a lot of desi people ,and everytime i even lit the stove people would harass me for it,the landlord even went through our personal food item in the fridge with his dirty unwashed hands. The only other woman in the house, could cook the most stinky ,unhygienic and awful looking food, and all she got was praise, even through she spread germs all around, with chicken blood on the drainage board, and rice left in the ricecooker for 2 days.My husband is desi ,and i refuse to cook for him out of shame and embarresment until we live in our own home. Then we´ll try out some biriyani, because he is a good guy who doesn´t put me down ,but he supports me to achieve better.I know that people react to something on the internet that is related to their culture, but remember the internet is global,so I can sit in London and watch the same recipe as someone in Pakistan ,India or Bangladesh.likewise, you can watch things from my culture, and try to copy it or shake your heads.
