Varun Dhawan reportedly in talks for Hollywood debut
Actor connected with 'Mortal Kombat' producer Lawrence Kasanoff, negotiations said to be progressing steadily

Indian actor Varun Dhawan is reportedly in talks for what could become a major international milestone in his career — an inter-parallel universe action film that is expected to be his Hollywood debut, according to Indian media reports.
The 39-year-old star, who has been active in the Indian film industry for around 14 years, is reportedly exploring opportunities beyond Bollywood. Indian sources suggest he may soon be stepping into a Hollywood-backed production being developed with producer Lawrence Kasanoff, best known for his work on the cult action franchise Mortal Kombat and its broader entertainment adaptations.
An industry insider, according to Indian media reports, was quoted saying, “Varun has been offered a Hollywood project, and the discussions have been progressing steadily over the last few weeks. He recently connected with Lawrence Kasanoff, and both sides are in advanced talks.”

The insider further noted that while the deal is not yet finalised, negotiations have been consistent and increasingly positive over recent weeks. They added, “While things are still being finalised, the project could mark a significant global step in Varun’s career,” hinting that the film could position the actor in a larger international action-oriented franchise space.
Although no official confirmation has been issued, the development has already generated attention among entertainment circles.
Meanwhile, Dhawan is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, scheduled to hit cinemas on June 5, 2026. The film, a lighthearted comedy, is directed by Dhawan's father, veteran filmmaker David Dhawan. It is produced under Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films.
