LAHORE: An online session titled ‘Digitisation in Local Governments’ under Punjab Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department was organised via video conferencing to help improve the ongoing digitalisation in the department.

Punjab LG&CD Special Secretary Babar Aman Babar headed the session whereas Management Information System (MIS) Manager Muhammad Adnan, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) experts Salman Amin and Mariam Zaib, and other officials briefed the participants on the ongoing digitalisation in the department.

The participants were briefed in detail about various management information systems currently operational as well as those to be introduced after completion of digitization in the department.

They were given a detailed demonstration on the MIS.

Provincial LG&CD Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi said 12 information systems were being developed in coordination with the Punjab Municipal Fund Development Company (PMFDC) and PITB, with the target to have a consolidated dashboard which could help monitor resources and ultimately result in a remarkable improvement in service delivery. “A few systems such as e-bidding and e-tendering are in an advanced stage of development whereas MIS pertaining to human resources, municipal assets and financial management have been made operational.”

While concluding the online session, the special secretary stressed the need of regular data entry into the systems in order to ensure the outcomes of the digitalisation in the department.

He strictly instructed the officers concerned to ensure compliance and submit progress reports on a weekly basis.
