Bird hunting banned in breeding season
.

The Punjab Wildlife Rangers have banned hunting of wild birds across the province following the start of the breeding season to ensure their safe reproduction in natural habitats.
According to the department, the breeding season has begun in Punjab, prompting the launch of a public awareness campaign. Officials stated that providing a peaceful environment during this period is essential to support population growth.
Authorities noted that from October 1 last year to March 31, legal hunting of ducks was allowed only on Saturdays and Sundays. However, with the end of the season, a complete ban on all forms of hunting has been enforced.
Hunting and capturing partridges, ducks and other wild birds have been prohibited.
A spokesperson urged the people of the province to avoid damaging bird nests and eggs and to help protect the natural environment.
Citizens have also been advised to refrain from setting fires in fields, pastures, forests and orchards, and to avoid the use of weapons near wildlife habitats.
The spokesperson said that any incidents of harm to wildlife or illegal hunting should be reported immediately to the helpline 1107 for prompt action. The officials emphasised that public cooperation is vital for the protection of wildlife.
